MP3 & Podcasting Lets You Listen On
Your Own Time!
In the past six months, podcasting with mp3 files has grown from
a few dozen regular podcasts, to as many as 8000 or 9000 regular podcasts.
And the medium is set to explode.
Podcasting is Convenient
Unlike a regular radio broadcast, which is on 'now' and not 'anytime,'
you can take a podcast with you on a small
portable MP3 player such as an iPod or iRiver player.
Even if you don't have a portable MP3 player, it would be a very easy
thing to burn an audio CD of your favorite podcasts and take them in your
auto for listening at your leisure.
The key to all of this is convenience.
No waiting for the program to come on, no setting a clock or trying to
remember when to listen, no special scheduling.
Podcasting is doing for 'netcasting' what TiVo is doing for television.
It's giving the audience the freedom to tune at
will.
Download Your MP3 Podcasting File and Listen
So how do you listen to podcasts? The easiest way is to simply go get
the software iPodder.
The website is a central resource for podcasting and a listing of over
3500 regular podcast shows.
Then all you need is an MP3 player on your computer (which you most
likely already have, if you listen to any music) such as iTunes or
MusicMatch. One clever thing about iPodder is that if you have iTunes on
your computer, as you download the new podcasts, the software inserts the
new programs into your iTunes program menu.
If you have an iPod or MP3 device, you can transfer the programs
and listen on the bus, airplane, while driving, doing dishes or mowing the
law. Anywhere you can wear your headphones. Maybe even in church!
