Multi-Media Marketing and The Podcasting
Revolution

The internet world is changing at light speed. Especially with respect to
multi-media and multi-media marketing. Or, as they said in the
movie spoof ‘Space Balls:’ ‘put the ship in --- ridiculous speed!’
But how do you keep up? And do you want to?
But with the ‘busy-ness’ in our lives, I can’t spend much time listening
to a new podcast every day, especially if I’ve found a half a dozen that I
like and enjoy.
Podcasters have to compete for our attention as much as
any other media outlet: cable TV, the internet, radio, etc.
I was listening to
James Maduk’s recent podcast last night and his comments about how
fast the internet world is changing. And he’s spot on with his question:
Do you want to lead, do you want to follow, or do you want to just get out
of the way?
Now I’ve been watching James for a couple of years, and really like his
cutting-edge approach with multi-media. In fact, if you’re interested in
his approach to creating multi-media and marketing online, there’s an
article on my website called,
How To Create Audio and Visual Products, where James discusses
the options you have in creating multi-media products.
“There’s a revolution now, and I think that most people don’t get it,”
said James in a recent podcast. “And if you’re not getting it, I can
guarantee that your competitors are getting it.”
Some of the cutting edge technologies include blogging (a few years old)
and podcasting (very recent), as
well as using multi-media such as MP3s, streaming audio and video, video
screen captures and more (which keep developing) in a variety of ways.
And most of these technologies have a very modest learning curve if you
know your way around your computer. It’s just adding a new piece of
software and learning the ins and outs of it.
And if you’re not able to pick up the skills on a new piece of software or
technology quickly, then to me it appears there are a couple of options:
hire someone to do it (or teach you), or track down a tutorial online.
Let’s take podcasting, for instance, since that’s the thrust of
this article and this section of the website.
Podcasting tutorials are available online.
I’ve checked out a bunch. But the challenge is finding something fits YOUR
level of current learning and education. Finding a tutorial that’s not to
arcane and full of too much techo-babble.
Aaah, that is the challenge, isn’t it?
So, if you want to podcast, learn the lingo, check out articles, browse
the internet and find what other people. If the technology is too steep
for your programming skills now, don’t get frustrated. Just keep your
attention on the technology and the buzz.
It won’t be long before someone comes out with a program
or explanation of the process that will be easy. Podcasting for Dummies©,
indeed!
